Mother held on Bail in California Torture Case

Ina Rogers, 31, is being held on $495k bail in Solano County after she allegedly burned and beat her ten children.  The Northern California family lived in filth according to authorities.  Rogers is being held on nine counts of felony child abuse according to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office.  Allegations against the mother include that she shot her children with a pellet gun and a crossbow and subjected them to torture by scalding them with hot water.  Prosecutors had asked the judge to increase her bail given the egregious circumstances of the case.  Johnathan Allen who fathered eight of the ten children is currently being held on $5 million bail.  He was charged with multiple counts of felony torture and child abuse.

Police initially began investigating the couple after one of their children was reported missing.  When police returned the young boy to the home they saw the filthy condition of the house including piles of trash and animal feces.  The children were taken into protective custody and Rogers was placed under arrest following the incident.  While in custody the children told authorities of the horrid conditions they were raised in and the torture that they were subjected to at the hand of their parents.  The children not only had scars and bruises but also received broken bones as a result of the abuse.  Allen had previously been arrested for corporal injury.  He was sentenced to three years of probation and 180 days as a condition of his plea agreement in the 2015 case.
