Ira Alexander Stringer is being held in the Orange County Jail on $1 Million bail after a crime spree across county lines. The 45-year-old man is believed to have robbed a Circle K gas station in the City of Orange. While armed with a shotgun, Stringer allegedly demanded cigarettes and gas from the store clerk. When officers tried to pull him over, Stringer led them on a 45-mile chase that ended in Riverside. He refused to come out of his vehicle before being detained nearly two hours later. He was arrested and charged in the robbery and pursuit. Stringer is also wanted in San Diego County for the alleged kidnapping of a baseball coach and student as well as for a string of robberies that occurred in the week before. According to police, Stringer approached the coach and student asking for a cigarette and then threatening them with a gun ordering them into the coach’s vehicle to drive to an undisclosed location. The kidnapping ended when the baseball coach lost control of his vehicle and was able to wrestle the revolver away. Luckily, the incident ended without injury.
