Tung Nguyen is currently being held in the Orange County Jail on $500,000 bail for allegedly helping three inmates after their escape from the jail on January 22nd. Nguyen is believed to have given the three inmates money and beer after they escaped. Nguyen, through his attorney, acknowledges that he gave one of the escapees, Bac Tien Duong, money after his escape but denies knowing that he was a fugitive at the time. Nguyen was charged with being an accessory after the fact and pleaded not guilty. Duong, Hossien Nayeri and Jonathan Tieu all escaped from the Orange County Jail but were detained within eight days of their escape. The men were believed to be assisted by gang ties in Westminster and the surrounding communities. Nguyen faces up to three years in prison for his alleged involvement in the crime.
