Target Store Murder Suspect Held on $1 Million Bail

Edward Dewayne Nelson, 33, was arrested in connection with the slaying of 44-year-old Alex Lin.  Authorities believe he was the getaway driver in the brutal Brea homicide that took the life of Lin.  The murder happened in a Target parking lot and is believed to have happened during the course of a robbery.  Nelson is being held on $1 million bail in the Orange County Jail.  He is charged with murder.

Thomas Jenkins III was also arrested in connection with this homicide.  Authorities believe it was Jenkins who shot the victim multiple times on January 28 during a robbery attempt.  Jenkins was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail the day following the shooting.  While the Brea Police Department knew that Jenkins had an accomplice, it was unclear of his identity until detectives tracked down Nelson and had him under surveillance.

The crime rocked the quiet city of Brea.  The shooting occurred at around 9:30 am on Saturday January 28.  Security footage captured some of the incident.  Target had opened to shoppers at 8 am and remained open following the incident.
