The Seal Beach Police Department has been anxious to put an end to the recent increase in the number of bicycle thefts. The arrest of Damon Ellwood, 38, helps in this quest according to authorities. Ellwood is a resident of Leisure World where he lives with a senior woman. Police searched the home and found bicycles that have likely been stolen as well as other potential stolen property. Damon is no stranger to theft-related crimes. He has done at least 2 stints in prison for burglary and theft related crimes. The SBPD believes that they have cleared five pending burglary investigations by this one arrest. Ellwood is being held at the Orange County Jail on $150,000 bail.
