Some inmates may qualify for the Huntington Beach Police Department Pay-To-Stay Program. This program allows men and women to serve time in a city jail as opposed to a county jail for a fee. Inmates are allowed to go to work or attend school during the day and serve their sentence at night and on the weekends. Those interested in applying for the Inmate Worker Program must obtain a court order and have to serve their sentence on consecutive days.   Inmates participating in the program are separated from other inmates and may assist with light cleaning, laundry, trash removal and other chores at the facility.

Inmates wishing to participate in the Pay-To-Stay program must submit an application, medical questionnaire, pass a Tuberculosis test and be interviewed prior to acceptance. Applications can be faxed to the Huntington Beach City Jail at (714) 536-5698. Those released for work furlough will be required to wear a GPS tracking device and must have a court order stating the specific times and dates of release for work.

Pay-To-Stay Program Costs

The Huntington Beach Pay-To-Stay program costs $150 for the first day and $100 for each day after. Those inmates allowed to leave for work furlough must pay an additional $10 fee for GPS tracking and monitoring. The first two weeks worth of fees is due prior to beginning the program and additional payments are to be made on the 1st and 15th of each month.   For more information about the Pay-to-Stay Program call (714) 374-5395.
