Frank Carson, a Modesto Defense Attorney, was denied bail for alleged 2012 murder of Korey Kauffman. The case involves 5 suspects who allegedly conspired in this made for TV, Murder-For-Hire case. Carson, his wife, a former CHP officer and two liquor store owners are believed to have killed Korey Kauffman after he stole from one of Carson’s properties. The prosecution believes that Carson orchestrated the killing. In 2013, Kauffman’s body was found in the Stanislaus National Forest in Mariposa County.
The case rests heavily on the testimony of Robert Woody who was arrested in 2014 for Kauffman’s murder. Woody has told investigators that he owed the defense attorney a favor since he had previously represented him without charge. He said that Carson promised to bail him out and represent him if he was arrested for Kauffman’s murder.
