Lori Laughlin Released on $1 Million Bail
In a shocking celebrity scandal, several Hollywood A-listers were named in a college admissions scheme that shook the California coast. Lori Laughlin, Felicity Huffman and others were arrested and charged in the scandal which alleges that the actresses forged photos, tests and more to get their children into elite schools. As reported by deadline.com, Lori Loughlin was released on $1 Million bail after turning herself into federal authorities. Felicity Huffman posted $250,000 bond to be released.
The bribery scandal unraveled as authorities used William Rick Singer to get to the parents. Singer took money from wealthy parents for a variety of things including paying off exam proctors to correct answers and photoshopping children’s faces onto bodies of athletes playing a sport. The case involves some of the largest and most prestigious universities in the country. Not only have celebrities been indicted, but so have coaches and other college admission officials involved in the scheme.
Many wonder exactly how many rich parents have been involved in this sort of pay to play game. This indictment involves 50 people. The FBI is investigating claims since 2011 of college admissions cheating. Although the crackdown involves wealthy parents of nearly every profession, the two well-known actresses will likely be the poster-child for this injustice.
