Jenny Ann Stewart is currently being held on $50,000 bail at the Orange County Jail after being arrested following a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on July 30 after officers stopped Steward for allegedly driving under the influence. Stewart was driving a stolen vehicle according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department and was pulled over after reports of a drunk driver matched her description.
During the stop, she allegedly reversed the vehicle in the direction of the officer and fled the area. The officer shot at the vehicle during the incident. Stewart was unscathed and led the officers on a chase throughout South Orange County finally crashing into a police vehicle. She then tried to run from the scene but was arrested shortly after the incident.
According to reports, Stewart has a long rap sheet including prior convictions for resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, receiving stolen property and tampering with a vehicle. She has an open case for a number of charges including assault and battery.
Stewart has her first court date August 3, 2015 at the Orange County Superior Court. In lieu of posting the $50,000 bail she has decided to stay in jail where she was booked on multiple counts.
