Bail Revoked in Rapper’s Bodyguard Murder Case

Shortly before Rapper T.I. was going to perform, Daryl Campbell (Taxstone) allegedly killed bodyguard Ronald McPhatter.  The bodyguard to rapper Troy Ave was shot at New York City’s Irving Plaza on May 25th.  Troy Ave was not indicted in charges related to the death. Prosecutors believe that the host of podcast “Tax Season” shot the bodyguard during a blowup over the suicide of Capital Steez.  Troy Ave was shot in the leg during the incident.

Taxstone was originally held on $500,000 bail but a federal court judge revoked the bail last week.  The judge revoked the bail after prosecutors argued that the podcaster was a threat to the community and witness testimony would prove he fired the fatal shots.  Taxstone is currently indicted on federal weapons charges related to the case.

A judge can revoke bail for a number of reasons including if the defendant commits a crime while they are awaiting trial, fails to appear or if they violate any other condition of their release.  Judges can also revoke bail if they feel that the defendant is a threat to the community or if new facts arise in the case.
