90s Rapper “Klever” Released on $200k Bail after Social Media Threat to LAPD

lapd-carAlex Izquierdo, known to some as “Klever”, posted a video waving a gun near a patrol car that belonged to the Los Angeles Police Department. The video was posted to Instagram saying “F___ the Police.” Izquierdo, who rose to some fame during the 90s with the rap group Brownside, was arrested after posting the threatening video. Izqueirdo’s brother “Toker” maintains that his brother was not trying to make a direct threat to LAPD and was using a prop in the now infamous video. The LAPD has admitted that the video is likely linked to a promotional comeback stunt for the 90s rapper. Izquierdo does, however, have a prior firearm conviction, which means that carrying a gun can result in a felony.

Undoubtedly, there are many other ways to stage a comeback. “Klever” did not quite live up to his name when posting a video on social media that could be perceived as a threat to law enforcement. Given the current atmosphere, police take all potential threats seriously, as they should. Izquierdo, perhaps, should have asked himself “is this a case where I #MightNeedBail?” prior to staging this kind of a comeback.
