Should Suge Knight be given bail? There are interesting perspectives to both sides of the story. 1) Where can he go that he wouldn’t be recognized? He’s known around the world and would have a very difficult time hiding. Not to mention the reward money that would likely be offered up by law enforcement or the bail bond company.
Also, does Mr. Knight pose as a danger to society? It’s unlikely that someone of his notoriety would be much of a danger to society or even be able to do anything to influence witnesses or hamper the ongoing investigation. Also, Mr. Knight apparently has some health concerns that might come into play when asking to be released on bail.
The attorney for Knight will argue that he is not a threat to flee or to society. He might also throw in that Knight has health concerns and that he can get better attention outside the jail than inside the jail.
A few other things that might help him get a bail reduction would be that he surrender his passport, wear a GPS ankle bracelet and have a bail bondsman guarantee his appearance in court. On a $2 million dollar bond the bail company would need sufficient collateral to cover the entire amount of the bond. This is usually a great incentive for a defendant to appear in court or lose their property that they pledge to the bondsman.
This will certainly be an interesting hearing tomorrow.
