At the Southwest Detention center in Riverside we had a case where a father and son were arrested for possession of 200 marijuana plants. Their bail was posted at $50,000. As payment on a bond that size is difficult, we worked out a great payment plan for them extending up to one year. We were able to bail the son out of jail and are currently working on the father. They both have a medical marijuana license, however, under that law they are allowed up to 99 plants. Stay within the regulations of the law to avoid the cost of bail and an attorney.
In another case, one of our agents, Robert Martinez, went to a Pomona court bail hearing with a client of ours. The bail had been set at $100,000 but while they were in court together the DA was discussing raising the bail to $500,000 and had also offered our client a two and a half year jail sentence as an alternative option. After considering how much it would cost him in bail money and attorney fees he decided to take the deal.
Yesterday I received a call from one of my bosses to bail out a client at Orange County Jail in Santa Ana. This was a bail set at $10,000 and we charged them with a premium of only 8%. I met with the co-signer, who conveniently lived within one mile from the jail. He and his wife welcomed me into their home and even gave me a bottle of water while we went over paper work together. After signing everything and explaining the bail process to them I then drove to the jail and posted the bond for the inmate. It was pretty late in the evening, around 10pm, when the bond was posted but luckily OCJ released him before 1am this morning.
