18 Bail Bondsmen have been arrested in the Bay Area during a major sweep beginning Thursday night. It is believed that up to 31 bondsmen will be arrested throughout Northern California for colluding with jail inmates. (Watch the Video Here) Prosecutors believe that these bondsmen would get information on bail cases and then use that information to beat the competition through exclusive conversations with inmates.
Those arrested included bondsmen from 7 different companies. Aladdin Bail Bonds in San Jose had nine employees arrested and Luna Bail Bonds had 10 employees arrested on felony charges. All bondsmen involved in the raid have already had their licenses revoked by the California Department of Insurance. Arrests occurred throughout the Bay area including the counties of Alameda, Merced, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Clara.
