On Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the 7:00 pm the City Council held a Special Council Meeting to authorize a contract for the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department law enforcement services. The action was approved by a vote of 4-1. The next step will be for City staff and the Sheriffs staff to coordinate the transition strategy. It is anticipated that the transition will be completed within 6 months. The Sheriff has already made a commitment to hire as many police personnel as possible. Every effort will be made to make the transition as smooth as possible while addressing customer service needs in the community. If you need to post bail for someone who has been arrested in the City of Rialto, there are a few basic things you need to be informed of.
Why is someone required to post a bail bond?
In general terms the idea is that someone arrested will remain in custody following an arrest until the time of the trial. In this country, the majority of cases gives the individual the option of posting a bail bond instead of remaining in jail for this period. Bail is a way to convince the court that the defendant can be released and does not intend to flee and will indeed appear in court at the date and time the judge has set. There are conditions around the bail bond, such as, the accused will appear in court for the trial, as many times as required by the judge, or that the individual will reside in a specified location.
What is the purpose of someone becoming a surety?
If the accused is unable for any reason, or does not have the financial ability to post the bail, another individual may act as a “surety”. As the surety, the person can offer property, assets or a property title to guarantee the compliance of the bail conditions. If you become a surety on behalf of a friend or relative, bear in mind that if any of the conditions or terms of the bail bond are violated, the court has the option to order the forfeiture of any property or assets that were offered as guarantee. This is an important aspect of the bail bond and a good reason we recommend you seek the professional advise of a licensed bail bondsman.
