Penal Code 594b
There are a variety of variations to Penal Code 594(b). For example, 594(b)(1) stands for vandalism in excess of $400. This is a misdemeanor offense with a bail of $5,000. Penal Code 594(b)(2)(a) stands for vandalism with damages that are less than $400. The bail amount is the same - $5,000. Penal Code 594(b)(2)(b) stands for vandalism with damages that are $400 or less, but with a prior conviction. The bail is also $5,000.
The bail for each of these offenses is the same in all counties throughout California. This bail amount is the amount of money that a defendant must supply in order to get out of jail until he has fulfilled his entire obligation to the court. This amount of money will be refunding when the defendant fulfills his or her legal obligation, even if the defendant is found to be guilty.
In order to pay this bail, the defendant has a right to consult with a bail bonding agency. A bail bonding agency is available to help pay the entire amount of the bail in exchange for a down payment for services from the defendant. This down payment is a non-refundable fee that is usually about ten percent of the total amount of the bail.
The defendant will also need to put up additional money or collateral to provide an additional security to the bail bonding agency that the defendant will fulfill the legal obligation. After all the bail bonding agency will not receive a refund of the bail amount unless the defendant fulfills his or her legal obligation. Thus, the bail bonding agency may take possession of collateral if the defendant fails to follow through.
However, if the defendant does fulfill the legal obligation to the court, the bail bonding agency will receive a refund and the defendant will no longer be required to pay additional fees for service to the bail bonding agency, regardless of whether the defendant was innocent or guilty.
