Vehicle Code 2800.2
If a person is arrested and taken to jail for violating Vehicle Code 2800.2, the person has been arrested for driving recklessly to evade a police officer. While in some cases, the violation may simply result in a fine, the defendant is generally evading a police officer in the first place because he or she is guilty of another violation.
In the event that a person is arrested and taken to jail for violating code 2800.2 or any other Vehicle Code, Penal Code or Health and Safety Code, that person may be eligible for bail. If the person is offered the opportunity to post bail in exchange for freedom from jail, then the person will most likely exercise that option, if he or she can afford it.
In order to help defendants pay for bail, bail bonding agencies will provide the financial assistance that they need to cover the full amount of the bail. In most cases, the defendant will need to pay the bail bonding agency a down payment in exchange for the financial assistance. This down payment is generally equal to about ten percent of the total amount of bail. So, if a person is in jail for violating Vehicle Code 2800.2 in addition to other code violations, the total amount of the bails are added up for each code violation to come up with a total bail amount.
The bail bonding agency can accept a variety of forms of payment for its services, including personal checks, collateral, cash, and credit cards. As long as the defendant fulfills his or her legal obligation to the courts, the defendant is not obligated to pay the bail bonding agency any more than the original down payment, plus any pre-existing fees associated with the service. |
