California Bail Information and Charges

Vehicle Code 14601a

When a person is arrested for violating Vehicle Code 14601, he or she could be arrested for a variety of subcategories that are associated with this particular type of offense. These subcategories are as follows:
Vehicle Code 14601(a) is the code for driving with a license that is suspended or revoked. The bail is $1,050.

Vehicle Code 14601.1(a) is the code for driving with a license that has been suspended or revoked for reasons that do not relate to driving ability. The bail is the same as Code 14601(a).
Vehicle Code 14601.2(a) is the code for driving with a suspended or revokes license for a DUI in full compliance. Code 14601.2(b) is the same offense, but without the full compliance clause. Both offenses carry a bail of $1,050.

Vehicle Code 14601.5 is for driving when privileges have been suspended or revoked for refusing to take a chemical test or for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The bail amount is $1,050.
Vehicle Code 14610 is for the unlawful use of a license and has a bail or fine of $350.

When a defendant needs assistance making bail, the defendant will generally call upon the help of a bail bonding agency. Bail bonding agencies will front the full amount of the bail bond in exchange for a ten percent (usually, though the percentage can vary) down payment of the amount of the full bail.
Defendants can make their down payments in a variety of ways, including by cash, check or credit card. If financing is needed, the bail bonding agency will use collateral to ensure payment. Collateral may include stocks, real estate or automobiles.

As long as the defendant fulfills and obligation to the court, the defendant will not have to pay the bail bonding agency any additional fees in exchange for service. However, if the defendant fails to fulfill his or her legal obligation, the bail bonding agency may then exercise the right to possess the collateral. The agency may also enlist the help of bounty hunters to find and rearrest the defendant.
