California Bail Information and Charges

Vehicle Code 12500a

If a person is arrested for violating vehicle code 12500(a), it means that the person was arrested for driving without a license. There are a variety of variations for this type of arrest as well. For example, if the person is operating a motorcycle without a license, the person will be violating code 12500(b). If the driver has a license, but does not have the license in his or her immediate possession, then the person is violating code 12951. If the person is unable to supply a police officer with a license when he or she demands it, then the person violates code 12951(a). For unlawful acts with regards to a license, the person is violating code 13004. For unlawful acts that include using a fraudulent ID card, the person is violating code 13004(a) – the manufacture or sale of a fraudulent ID.

When a person is arrested for any of these offenses, the person may be let off with a fine. However, for serious offenses, such as the manufacture of false identification cards, the defendant could be kept in jail pending bail arrangements. If the person is held in jail pending bail arrangements, then the defendant will be able to get out of jail as soon as the bail is made.

In order to pay bail, a defendant will have to find the amount of money that is equal to the total cost of the bail. Often, the best way to obtain this money is to go through a bail bonding agency. A bail bonding agency will supply the full amount of the bail in exchange for a down payment for its services. The down payment is generally about ten percent of the total cost of bail.

When the defendant is released on bail, the bail bonding agency then helps to make sure that the defendant makes his court appearance and fulfills all legal duties to the courts. As soon as these duties are completed, the courts will issue a refund of the bail amount to the bail bonding agency. However, if the defendant fails to make a court appearance, the bail bonding agency will pursue the defendant to take him or her back to court.
